Mexican Spiced Strawberry JamPrintable version of this recipe.
3 pints strawberries
3/4 cups water
4 tablespoons sugar (optional)
1/4 cup orange juice
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (freshly ground)
Begin by rinsing the strawberries and removing the stems. Thinly slice the berries and set aside. In a medium sauce pot, bring the water to a boil and add the sugar. Add the strawberries. Stirring frequently, cook the berries until they begin to break down and the liquid reduces about 1 inch. Stir in the cinnamon and nutmeg. Add the orange juice and stir through. Remove the pan from the heat and allow to cool.
